making waves

here is something i am loving right now: 

marc anthony dream waves beach spray

as i have mentioned before, my hair does not curl well.  so i am a sucker for new ideas to give my locks a little umf!  i was in rite aid and saw a bottle of the dream waves beach spray by marc anthony for only $12.  the box said "Even the straightest hair can achieve sexy, fresh-from-the-beach, tousled waves" and i said "yeah right" ... out loud, in the store.  BUT i had just returned something and so i felt that i had the extra $12 to spare.  let me tell you, it really works.  i use this stuff every other day for "dirty hair day" and it works like a charm.  now, dont get me wrong, it took a couple of weeks to get the perfect combination to make it look great.  like, how wet my hair should be and how much spray to use?  i never thought i could get my hair to look beach wavy without paying for a body wave.  and the best part, this stuff is reasonably priced.  i have been getting quite a few compliments at the office wondering what im doing differently and my answer usually consists of "i have to tell you about this new product im using ... blah blah, dream waves, blah, marc anthony!"

hello friends and happy friday! 

my mother and aunt should be here tomorrow morning to teach me a little about a starter garden.  i would love some low maintenance flowers and im looking forward to growing my own tomatoes and maybe some figs. 

speaking of green thumbs, i wonder how easy it would be to display my house numbers in moss graffiti.  it may be something i try in the coming weeks.  {stay tuned}

this weekend via intagram

this weekend i went home to visit with my family. 

sitting on my mom's front porch ... i love it there!

after sitting up half the night talking and laughing, we finally went to sleep anticipating our yard sale adventures.  we were out of the house by 8am {a bit late for yard sales but it felt great to sleep in} and headed to my sister's church to see what they had.  we ate a great breakfast and decided to stop by an antique mall we knew was nearby.  i found this awesome tray to put in our living room and a couple of keys i plan to make a necklace with.

my mom also gave me the blanket in the picture below that my great grandmother made.  the 2 cream color pillows were found at a yard sale and will soon be covered by yours truly. 

and then i found my favorite item of the day ...

an old foot locker for husband to use as a coffee table in his man room and it will double as a place to store blankets for the futon.  {you cant see the fancy tupperware containers in back with trays on top but that is what we were using to put our plates and cups on.}  being quite the history nerd, he spent an hour or so trying to figure out what the top said and who it might have belonged to.  I will take more pictures to post once i have the room set up. 

on sunday we celebrated 6 months since the launch of lifepointe downtown.

we love being a part of this team.  they make 8am on sundays awesome!

 and topped it off with a puppy friendly afternoon nap.

i decided to quit admiring this photo pinned to my pinterest board, and do something about it.  after downloading postalpix, i went thru and found the pics i wanted to display.  it was all very quick and simple {sometimes its a little too quick and simple to spend money from my phone}.  now the hard part ... the waiting.  i am such an impatient person when it comes to receiving things i am expecting in the mail and i am too cheap to pay for a quicker shipping method.

i have never been super big in following "the hottest color this spring" kind of stuff.  i buy what i love and wear it, keeping my mind open to whats in but not really planning my wardrobe around it.  dont get me wrong, i got on the teal and mustard yellow band wagon, but the difference is, after everyone else gets off, ill still be riding along, wearing my leggings until the day i die :)

anywho, i hear this springs hottest color is tangerine/orange.  i have a few items i am hopeing to remix this spring but i found some lovely things on etsy that would be perfect to add to my home, closet and even my phone.

do you ever get such a great deal on something, you leave the store feeling like someone will ask to check your bags?  i felt like that friday night leaving rite aid.  half their nail polish was 75% off.  im not known for keeping my nails pretty and painted but this great deal inspired me to try something new.

*sigh*

it is 80 degrees in north carolina.  im at work {in a room with no windows} and husband has the day off ... how the devil did that happen.  it least he did look like this when i was leaving, or i may have climbed right beack in bed.

anywho, the warmer weather is makes me look forward to cookouts with friends.  the pic below was taken at a small group cookout last summer. 

i am so looking forward to spring and summer with their long and sunny days full of laughter and a lot of food :)
