Time Out

Our preacher challenged the congregation to go on a social media fast. The goal is to not be distracted and to rest. I will be signing off of blogger, Facebook and twitter for the next seven days.

I leave you with this cool picture I took of husband on Saturday. Its from our mini date at the art museum.

high five for friday

linking up with lauren with high five for friday
she spoke about it at latte's and blogging and i thought it sounded like fun.

here are my top five favorite things from this past week:

1.  chick-fil-a gave me a free breakfast on thursday morning.
the calories dont count if i didnt have to pay for it, right?

2.  mailey in all her cuddle glory!  she is the most to say the least.

3.  i heart being airport ride biotch to my besties!  not only is it a chance to be of service to my friends, but also i get to be the first hug hello or the last farewell.  so looking forward to spending more time with these ladies this weekend!

4.  i love how much husband spoils our pups.  it wasnt even 80 degrees out and he made sure they had fresh, iced water.  he is such a softy!

5.  attending my very first blogger meetup.

bang envy

ive been growing out my bangs for a while now.  but when i see pictures like the ones below, i want to go straight to my bathroom and get the scissors out.

all photos are from pinterest (search "bangs")

almost every updo is better with bangs.  but i must remember, as great as these photos are, my bangs do not end up looking like this.  plus, i have to wash my bangs every day because they get oily.

my indecisiveness reminds me of anna farris's character in what's your number?  she is constantly "growing out her bangs."

what about you?  do you have a hard time committing to bangs or a harder time committing to growing them out?

latte's and blogging

this past sunday i attended my very first blogger meetup.  i was really nervous about having such a small blog and the fact that i didnt know anyone that was going.  i quickly realised that most of the women there were in the same boat.  this made for easy conversation.

source
the meetup was held at benelux cafe in downtown raleigh.  this place in known for the chill atmosphere, awesome coffee and amazing waffles.  the event was hosted by kate, carrie and lauren.  they did a really good job putting everything together and making everyone feel welcome.

you might recognize kate better this way:

... yeah, her hair is kinda famous on pinterest.
and her face is just as purdy as her hair  :)

we had a great time mingling and eating waffles

they sent us on our way with a parting gift and a night of new friends made.

i am hoping to get a full list of all the bloggers that attended the meetup and their links.  i cant wait to read through every one's blog.  here are a few peeps, besides the hostesses, i had the pleasure of meeting.

etsy ecstasy

i found this picture on pinterest and fell in love.  i love pretty plates but have always associated them being on display as something old ladies do (no offense to elderly ladies).  this picture shows a fresh and modern way to show off some really great finds.

original source
as always, i went straight to etsy to be inspired.  the wall i would be displaying plates on is a deep purple color and connects our living room and dining room area.  after finding a few items to finish off the living room, i think something like this (along with a few other projects) would give our dining room more of a polished feel.

here are some plates i found on etsy that i would totally hang on my wall:

click the pics to shop

elephants and french hot air balloons - from black baroque
english traditional floral plate - lion fish 53 vintage

vintage scandinavian polka dot plate - oak street vintage

vintage wall plate - zuppa atelier
vintage red transferware plate - english transferware
mid century cockerel plate - hazel home
vintage sage transferware - english transferware
vintage copper hammer stamped metal - hippopo vintage
i plan to start searching for plates at my local goodwill and flea markets and then finish off with a few special pieces that are from etsy.

happy monday!!!

a while back, i hosted a tea party at my home.  several ladies came over for brunch and hot tea.

my mom brought some table clothes that were my great grandmothers ... fun!

it was awesome to have so many lovely ladies under one roof :)

i wish i had taken pictures of the food because, besides the fellowship, it was the best part!!!

im thinking of hosting another one in the fall.  until then, ill be pinning ideas in preparation.
